The Packwood House Corner Cupboard

The architecturally inspired oak corner cupboard hangs in the panelled study at Packwood House and was installed only seventy years ago to display an early Worcester tea service upon its delicately shaped shelves. It successfully achieves a provincial elegance embellished with its fluted
classical pilasters, ‘Chinese Chippendale’ blind fretwork frieze, dentil cornice and mahogany cross grain veneered trims. Almost certainly acquired by the then owner and subsequent donor of the house, Graham Baron Ash, the cupboard represents a good example of late eighteenth century formal country furniture.
