| Painted furniture has been around for hundreds
of years. Surprisingly some of the dark oak furniture we see from
the 17th & 18th centuries was in fact quite brightly painted
when new. Much of the elegant drawing room furniture of the 18th
century was painted in pale greens, blues and greys and gilded
black lacquer was the height of fashion in Regency times. Country
furniture such as Windsor chairs were often painted dark green
or red and in America, painted styles such as "Pennsylvania
Dutch" took their influences from old Europe. They developed
a distinct style of their own and with that in mind… we
have called our new painted chair "The New England Chair"

348A Carver: £295; 348B Side Chair: £245
The nice thing is…. You can take any piece from our range
of country furniture and have it painted (or part painted) to
sit happily with these new chairs. Painting gives a whole new
look to any piece in our huge range of furniture. We have suggested
a few colours… but feel free to come up with your own…
Farrow & Ball and Fired Earth seem particularly suitable.

Bylaw suggested colours:
F&B: Eating Room Red, James White, Studio Green, Olive
