Staircases are a hugely important element of the home. A good staircase will set the tone for the entire interior. Usually in the entrance hall.... it is likely to be one of the first features to be seen. Traditionally, Bylaw staircases are substantial and generous without a hint of skimping! Hand polished to the standard of our furniture.... a Bylaw staircase will always "make a statement".

An alternative way....We are sometimes asked to enhance an existing staircase by cladding the strings and newels, replacing the balusters and handrail but keeping the original treads and risers. This is an amazingly effective method of creating a fabulous feature staircase without the upheaval of removing the original.
